Packaging glass safely and securely presents unique challenges and has exacting requirements that require expert handling and custom-made solutions.
At PEC Packaging, we have a wealth of experience as one of the UK’s leading glass packaging manufacturers. We have worked with some of the UK’s largest glass manufacturers, including Pilkington and Saint-Gobain, for many years.
Our timber glass stillages are specially designed for the safe storage and transportation of glass panels, windows and other sheet materials.
The stillages are designed around the specific load and the ways in which it will be handled, stored or transported.
PEC Packaging designs and manufactures stillages to match our customers’ product dimensions and any specific requirements. All our stillages are manufactured on-site in our own Liverpool-based warehouse.
Relevant factors can include the option of fixed or demountable construction, single- or double-sided loading, forklift handling and rubber or felt contact linings.

PEC Packaging can discuss and incorporate all aspects of design requirements and independent weight testing, with all relevant certification available where required.
Tell us your panel sizes, load weights, storage or transport requirements, and we’ll design a glass stillage to suit.
ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures) is an internationally recognised phytosanitary standard for heat treatment on timber packaging and pallets.
It is designed to combat pests and diseases linked to untreated timber and is generally a requirement for export packaging. Packaging that doesn’t meet ISPM 15 standards risks being prevented from passing through customs and returned to the sender or even destroyed.
Our export stillages can be manufactured using timber treated to meet ISPM 15 requirements.
This can help ensure compliance with packaging requirements in the importing country and may help avoid unnecessary delays and costs.
Dimensions for export stillages can also be considered for container loading where relevant. This can help maximise load efficiency within standard 20ft or 40ft containers.
We manufacture our wooden glass stillages at our Liverpool facility and supply customers nationwide.
Our in-house manufacturing provides both flexibility for bespoke dimensions and a sense of consistency and continuity for regular or repeat orders. It also allows us to maintain quality control throughout the process, from raw timber selection through to final assembly.

The right solution always depends on the specifics of the load, along with handling and storage requirements. That’s why we offer custom glass stillage design, along with other options such as high-quality timber A-frames.
